Printmaking

Printed Paintings

In this class we will look at artists such as Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin, Milton Avery and others who transformed their work through the use of the Monotypes. A monotype is a unique print taken from a design created in oil paint or printing ink typically on a glass or metal surface and then pressed. We will explore the many ways to manipulate students’ images with different inks, rice paper, and a variety of print making tools.
